School Direct / Initial Teacher Training (ITT)
Our School Direct programme generally lasts a year. During the course of the programme, you will train in at least two good schools.
This course offers a brilliant option if you want to train and learn ‘on the job’ – but you shouldn’t worry about being thrown in at the deep end. You’ll be part of a team from the very start, receiving intensive support from experienced teachers and mentors. That means you won’t be teaching classes unsupported until the school thinks you’re ready.

Alliance Training Testimonial
"We received full-day alliance training on a weekly basis on a Friday, hosted by a variety of schools within the alliance. Both myself and my placement schools appreciated the regularity of this arrangement, knowing I was never in school on a Friday - it enabled for more effective planning to take place regarding what I would be teaching/teaching a progression of lessons.
The training sessions were of an incredibly high standard; I was really blown away by the breadth and depth of the content we studied. We received training in every curriculum area, as well as in essential areas such as assessment for learning, target-setting, and SEND, to give a small sample. The sessions were highly interactive, with opportunities given to plan and deliver content, conduct school walk-arounds and classroom observations, and talk with expert members of staff and external professionals.
The provision made for us by Gatley was simply outstanding, and the highlight of the course for me."
