Werneth’s HART facility is a key facility in school, working under the direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead/AHT, and the Senior Leadership Team.  The facility is a calm and welcoming space for students to receive 1-2-1 support and small group mentoring to support their wellbeing and mental health.

HART is one of our key inclusion facilities within school, and this new position recognises its importance in the future direction of inclusion practices for the school.

The HART Facility Lead will work under the direction of Assistant Headteacher Jo Dee to lead all aspects of HART’s inclusion provision.  There has never been a more important time post-COVID to invest in supportive structures to include every child.  It is time to review and clarify our existing provision in terms of its remit and purpose.   This dedicated position will increase the capacity to do this.

This position arises as one of our part-time members of staff is leaving us to pursue further qualifications.  You would be joining an existing member of the team, as well as a wider network of our wide reaching pastoral team.

The headteacher and governors have decided to recruit a full time member of staff now to lead the facility under the direction of an Assistant Headteacher.  The reason for this change is to bring together many of our inclusion services listed below with a full time leader, and to forge new links with other aspects of inclusion in school eg our targeted support team, our new “Bridge” facility etc.

This position will review and lead:

  • Admissions into school, and the admission process

  • All aspects of current HART provision - 1-2-1 and group mentoring for students who are struggling in school

  • Mental health provision and support for students

  • Young carer provision

  • EAL students’ oversight

  • Looked after children workload

  • Links with external agencies

  • Links with other inclusion services in school - Targeted Support Team, Bridge and SEND

  • New developments and future direction for HART within our school
